Festivals & Events With Plenty of Sailing Action

If you see a maritime festival, regatta or event featured on one of our sailing voyages, we guarentee you will not spend the whole week alongside a dock.  Whilst it is nice to sit on deck at a festival and bask in the glory of being crew on a stunning wooden boat or tall ship, it is a lot more satisfying if you have been out sailing on her during the festival, or helped sail the vessel to the event. 

We pick maritime festivals where the vessels attending are encouraged to go out sailing, racing or demonstrating sailing manouvres to the public.  Each year we look ahead at events around the UK, Europe and the World to find the most exciting or visually spectacular sailing events that have something in common with the traditional craft, classic yachts or tall ships that we promote.

1   Classic Sailing Pilot Cutter World Championships (Review)

Yes there was plenty of racing at this year’s Pilot Cutter Review, but for me the backdrop is everything. It’s about creating evocative scenes out on the water and in the ports where the fleet gather each evening. The beauty of our two venues for the fleet of eight pilot cutters this year was their timeless quality. Visually you could travel back in time to a period where vessels had to set sails to move off the berth or weigh anchor.

2   Brixham Trawler Race & Heritage Festival - Gaffer Racing Too

Leader will be keen to win the St Georges Cup for Brixham Sailing Trawlers after her restoration.

Eve is going to this annual event after the pilot cutter review in June - racing in the gaffers over 30ft class.

Join Lizzie May or Eda Frandsen sailing along the stunning West Coast of Scotland in company with other gaffers. A small but highly enjoyable event not to be missed.

Join Lord Nelson, Oosterschelde or Europa to take part in the Tall Ships Races from Hobart, Syndey or Auckland as part of their Round the World programme in 2013-14
