Fresh and wild ideas
Fresh and wild ideas for taking a long weekend break or RYA Course this autumn on our classic boat ‘Eve of St Mawes’ ….and you don’t have to be a sailor to enjoy them.
Wild value for money
All our voyages are value for money and if you compare a long weekend ashore they are a lot cheaper than pootling around Cornwall by car and doing Bed and Breakfast, buying all your meals in pubs and restaurants, holiday shopping and attraction charges.
Apart from learning to sail you gain 3 days in the company of a knowledgeable local skipper; a variety of healthy outdoor pursuits thrown in each day; 3 freshly cooked evening meals in new company; 3 lunches al fresco on a beautiful blue boat; 3 breakfasts watching the wildlife, accommodation that rocks you gently to sleep and all for as little as £270.
See our latest on line brochure specifically featuring our ‘flagship’ Eve with tempting photos of the South Cornish coast and Isles of Scilly from a sailor’s eye.
Breathe in Peace
September is when the whole of Cornwall breathes a sigh of relief – Kids are back at school and the improved A30 is now easy, flights from London are cheap. We can find anchorages, beaches and wild coastal headlands all to ourselves. There’s plenty of room to breathe in peace.
Beach Clean Up
September is also National Beach Clean Up Month. Do your bit on holiday with Classic Sailing to keep Cornwall pristine. Help the Marine Conservation Society by sailing to an inaccessible Cove on Eve to remove plastic debris and enjoy a special discount on the voyage below.
Fresh and Wild.
Sailing and Fresh Food. Our skippers have a healthy appetite and love cooking. On our doorstep we have organic vegetables from Cusgarne Farm and fresh fish and seafood sold direct from local fishing boat Celestial Dawn on St Mawes Quay.
Oyster under Sail – the catching not the eating
October is the start of the Oyster Fishing Season. The Falmouth Oyster Festival (15-18th October) celebrates the sustainable harvesting of the seasons first oysters - a local event as significant to Cornwall as the Beajolais Wine Run is to France. Sail amongst the photogenic Falmouth Working Boats as they dredge oysters under sail in early morning mist. Eve’s skippers Debbie and Adam have dredged oysters under sail so we can explain how they drege for oysters under sail and from rowing boats.
Half Price Voyages for Eve RYA Day Skippers
RYA Competent Crew and RYA Day Skipper
Eve of St Mawes is an ideal boat to get your RYA qualifications on. She is simple to handle, it’s easy to see what goes on and where the bits of string go. There are all the mod cons of GPS and Radar, comfy berths and excellent food.
If you successfully pass your RYA Day Skipper Practical on Eve of St Mawes you can take your skills further by applying for a Half Price Voluntary Mates Berth on Eve’s next summer Isles of Scilly Voyages.
Isles of Scilly 2010
Now there is a real incentive for doing a RYA Day Skipper Practical on our pilot cutter Eve this autumn, 6 day RYA courses available from October to November.
Look at these benefits
- The mates berth for these popular 6 day Isles of Scilly adventures is offered at HALF PRICE saving £345.
- You also gain two 60 mile passages towards your Yachtmaster
- And you get to practice advanced pilotage in this intricate archipelago.
Importance of familiarity
Being familiar with the boat, the daily maintenance, style of customer care and understanding how she handles is every bit as important as the RYA Syllabus so we will only accept half price mates applications from sailors who have sailed Eve.
Already got your RYA Day Skipper Practical or higher
If you have not sailed Eve but already have a RYA Day Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster Certificate, or loads of experience – then join us for a cheaper 3 day voyage this autumn as a familiarisation and you too can apply for Half Price Mates berth.
Brittany 2010
We also require a Yachtmaster or Coastal Skipper who has sailed on Eve as voluntary mate for two Brittany Voyages.
Jan 1st 2010 Deadline
We will not allocate 2010 mates berths until the 1st January so you have time to sail with us this Autumn.
Limited places
Eve can only take six crew or five on a RYA Competent Crew or RYA Day Skipper Practical Course.

Did you know that you can usually skipper a yacht on a flotilla holiday with just a RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate?
As a member of Cornwall Marine Network, Classic Sailing can help you access training grants for up to 20% of your RYA Day Skipper Practical Course Costs.
You can apply if you fit the following criteria:

Euro Money for Cornwall
The grants are funded by European Union Convergence Funding. To comply there is a short literacy and numeracy test but it is for European Union Funding Statistics – You do not need to pass! To be honest you are unlikely to be able to skipper a yacht if you can not pass this test!
