Halcyon – Atlantic Edge
Pembrokeshire & Lundy
Voyages starting from Halcyon’s home port and great natural waterway of Milford Haven can enjoy the rugged cliffs and coves of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Offshore, there are many islands – protected either for their breeding seabird colonies of shearwaters, puffins and gannets, or for their rich underwater ecosystems. Marine Nature Reserves and clear waters off Skomer and Lundy Island are also a mecca for divers.
Emerald Isle
Cork, Kinsale, Baltimore, Glandore, Castletownend, Youghal and other small fishing ports beckon you ashore with promise of Guinness, fresh oysters and the inescapable Irish pubs where conversation with strangers is still a treasured art. In between these havens of sociability are some of the wildest stretches of coastline you will find in Europe. Enjoy the contrast of the Emerald Isle.
Isles of Scilly
After many years visiting on Eve, Classic Sailing know this granite archipelago intimately. See page 12 on the Isles of Scilly and more downloadable website details on the treasures ashore on Tresco, Bryher, St Martins, St Marys and St Agnes. Once amongst the turquoise shallows of anchorages like St Helens Pool or Old Grimsby, Halcyon’s RIB or clinker sailing dinghy can transport you in enough directions to almost have an island each.
Brittany
The French lust after a beautiful wooden boat. We love their wine, seafood and enthusiasm for outdoor living, whether it be simple langoustines in a waterside bar, or a whole family harvesting the fruits of the sea along a tidal shoreline. The Brittany and Biscay coasts have strong tides to whisk you past Plisson’s famously photographed lighthouses. Impressive rocky entrances guard historic Breton towns and idyllic wooded rivers wind deep inland. Bustling city life meets the sea at Brest, La Rochelle, or Bordeaux where La Gironde River sweeps you past the vineyard slopes to the impressive waterfront capital of French wine making
