Lizzie May joins Classic Sailing

Lizzie May sister ship to Eve of St Mawes sailing together in the Fal with St Mawes in the background.
Classic Sailing is proud to announce that Lizzie May has become our latest sailing partner. Her new owner Jerry has previously sailed on Eve of St Mawes and we are delighted that he has decided to join us. She is just as much fun to sail as Eve and Jerry makes an ideal skipper.
Lizzie May was the second pilot cutter to be built by Luke Powell and she is a fine fast cutter. She is four feet longer than Eve of St Mawes at 42ft on deck and has a traditional barrel windlass for her anchor. A lot of what Luke learnt when building Eve has gone into making Lizzie May a very fine boat. She is beautifully fitted out below decks and she takes five guests and a skipper. The picture above shows Lizzie May sailing during her 2nd voyage during her sea trials.
Sailing in Cornwall and Devon
There will be some short breaks in June in Cornish waters and then a longer voyages along the Cornish Coastline in to Devon and ending in the historic fishing port of Brixham with a similar voyage returning form Brixham to St Mawes.
Passage making and mile building voyage. Cornwall - Isles of Scilly - West Wales - Eastern Ireland - Scotland
In August Lizzie May will leave St Mawes in Cornwall heading for Scotland. This is a nine day voyage and subject to weather she hopes to call in on the Isles of Scilly, the west coast of Wales, the east coast of Ireland and Scottish ports on her way to the Clyde. It may be possible to join in Dublin. This is an ideal voyage for those wishing to get miles in their RYA Log book or those seeking a longer sea passage to really get to grips with traditional gaff sailing.
