Bessie Ellen

As of Autumn 2010 Bessie Ellen is preparing to carry passengers after a summer of cargo carrying.

Bessie Ellen used to be our Danish specialist. She has a keen following of sailors who enjoy the fun of racing and the friendly hospitality on board Bessie Ellen.

Working for a Living
Over a 100 years old, Bessie Ellen’s restoration to a characterful charter vessel has been an

epic tale of one woman’s determination to restore her back to a graceful sailing ship once more. Classic Sailing are proud to work with Cornish owner Nikki Alford for the 6th year running.

Baltic and Scandinavia
Bessie Ellen is currently based in Denmark where there are many similar wooden ships to keep her company. The Baltic has hot summers and relatively flat waters - very much an undiscovered cruising ground for British sailors, and easy to get to.

European Trader
The beauty of Bessie Ellen is she is large enough to be self sufficient, and with an ocean stability rating, a tough seaworthy ship to go a roving around the wilder parts of Europe.

Loyal Following
With only 12 guest crew Bessie Ellen is intimate enough to feel that you are a valuable member of the crew. She is so homely many guests don’t want to leave as our customer feedback shows.

Superb Food

Bessie Ellen prides herself on using local ingredients and fresh produce to make excellent food and consistently voted excellent by our customers.
