10 Best Weekend Courses for 2010

Classic Sailing has been selected by Lonely Planet Magazine under the category 10 Best Weekend Courses for 2010. We are rather pleased to be in their overall list of 52 best weekends away too, although some of these are really pushing the boundary of what you can do in a 'weekend.'

Our pilot cutter 2-3 day breaks on Eve of St Mawes in Cornwall, Lizzie May in Western Scotland and Annabel J in the Solent are featured in the Lonely Planet magazine at prices from £230 for 2 days.

A Local Skipper as Your Tour Guide

A three day voyage is typically £320 including an eyecatching pilot cutter, all freshly cooked food and accommodation on board and a local skipper acting as your sailing instructor, wildlife and travel guide to our secret anchorages and favourite historic ports.

Other cracker ideas in the magazine are Flamenco Dancing in Seville, cheese making in Cirencester, or catch and cook your own Lobster in Sweden.

Eat the Lobster but Save Fossil Fuel

We would argue you could cook your own crab or lobster in Cornwall or Scotland whilst sailing on Eve or Lizzie May. Just mention it to the skipper and we know where to go to get them. We are not so hot on Flamenco dancing though.

Lonely Planet Magazine is one of our favourite travel magazines and the February issue was a bumper edition looking at 52 different types of unusual weekend break for 2010.

Our short sailing breaks are popular so don't rely on booking on a whim. Plan a weekend away for late May when the plankton blooms in Cornwall and basking sharks come out to play, or mid summer in North West Scotland where the sun sets late in the evening. Late Autumn may be the best time to re charge your batteries with fast blasts on flat water in lee of the Isle of Wight on Annabel j.
