We are really proud to offer you this new vessel, new to Classic Sailing, Bark Europa. She is defiantly the best sailing tall ship we have ever found and because she is so successful there are only ever a few voyages available. The voyages are all Ocean Passages where you get the true sense of deep sea sailing. Debbie has sailed on her for 7 weeks this year and she says there is none better. We hope to have detailed pages up on the web site shortly but you can download her schedule here. Bark Europa
E 732 went to three wonderful places in Brittany. Ploumanach which is a quiet sheltered rock pool big enough to get a hundred boats in. This is the granite rose coast at its pink best, scenery and restaurants to die for. After a days exploring around ploumanach we had a gentle sail to Treguier. Just as we sailing in past modern yachts motoring we spied Annabel J coming out towards us. Much frantic waving and shouting ensued as we passed each other. Treguier was holding its annual Fete so after visiting the ancient cathederal with the unfortunate "Hastings Tower", unfortunate for us Brit's and for having been damaged by lighting six years ago but now repaired, we dined in my favourite french restaurant "Treguier Auburge". We then joined in the fun in the square in front of the cathederal and danced the night away. From there we had a days grunt of a sail, contrary winds and tide, to Paimpol.
We had a fantastic time at the Paimpol International Shanty Festival enjoying some great singers and traditional Breton chanting singers, I think it is called Bombard singing. All I know is that you can dance to it, the mad dancer was up to his old tricks despite a dodgy toe. If you half closed your eyes the lighting could have come from camp fires and your imagination would set you back about three thousand years - absolutely amazing. In Paimpol we caught up with Annabel J and had a very convivial time. I got my first guitar lesson, eat your heart out Julian Bream, Debbie and I swapped skippering Eve and Paul with squeeze box joined Eve from Annabel J. I was sorry to leave and as I write Eve should be heading into Fowey as part of her return voyage from Paimpol.
One Holiday two voyages.
Paul by sailing to Paimpol on Annabel J and returning on Eve made himself a great holiday adventure. You to can do this next year as both Annabel J and Eve are going to the Brest International Festival of the Sea and the Douarenenez Regatta, Annabel J and Eve Schedule.
