New Short Breaks and Royal Escapes

Something Old, Something New, Something borrowed and something blue for you all of you.

Royal Wedding Weekend Escape to Sea – Cornwall Mini Brochure

Something old, yes Bessie Ellen is over 100 years old but beautifully maintained, something new, yes we have introduced two new three day breaks to cover the Royal Wedding and May Bank Holiday weekends. Something borrowed, we’ll lend you hand to hoist the sails. Something blue, of course the sea in Cornwall is always blue, blue as can be if you get a huge swarm of white plankton. (The white reflects the sky – hence the blue colour.)

Haute Courtier

Look at the cloth, not on the wedding dress but on the sails, stitched to perfection, set with care and handled by many. With a full set of canvass Bessie Ellen has seven sails aflying, her trailing train is the wake she carves in the sea and its carbon free.

Honeymoon

No – we can’t promise you that but a sight of the moon over a quiet Cornish Anchorage will bring out the romantic in all of us.

Royal Wedding Weekend three day adventure voyage.

Beginners & experienced Sailors are welcome on this alternative to the Royal Wedding. Over the last 14 years we have introduced thousands of  new people to sailing. Bessie Ellen makes a great boat to start your sailing on as she has wide decks and plenty of room below. She is an excellent sea boat with a well proven safety record and she is kept to the highest standards. With traditional blocks and tackles you can see what the ropes are actually doing. Working as a team makes for a social holiday where everybody is on equal terms.

Healthy Exercise & Environmentally FriendlyIt is easy to make new friends on a sailing holiday

Traditional Sailing boats like Bessie Ellen are powered by the wind, but to harness it requires quite a bit of satisfying physical effort and teamwork. There are no winches on board  so you soon get to know your fellow guests as you haul on blocks and tackles. Sometimes we glide effortlessly through the water with 87 tons of oak propelled by the wind or tide. If the forecast is wrong it can be more of a struggle.

It’s unlikely you’ll go home thinner as the cooking is great, but we can guarantee you will leave looking a lot healthier and either sun tanned, or windswept and interesting. There is plenty of conversation, but you can find a corner for quiet contemplation. For some strange reason, everyone seems to sleep very well on board cocooned safely amongst Bessie Ellen's historic timbers.
