A life worth living...

"I feel totally changed by the whole experience, and can't wait to get back sailing again." Sarah S

Escape To Sea

Sailing is more an experience than an activity - and an out of the ordinary one at that.  While the sail hauling and trimming stretches the body, the space inspires reflection and a refreshed perspective.

Voyages represent freedom to a large number of our guest crew as life's routines and stress are left on land.  'Escape to sea' is a popular search term by people that book our trips.

The total absorption that comes with learning new skills offers the opportunity to break from the usual patterns of life.  Total immersion in the elements wakes the senses and prompts guests to reconsider their relationship with nature.

Learning and Growing

Absolutely no experience is needed to crew our boats.  Our patient skippers enjoy teaching novices how to sail.

Sailing traditional boats successfully relies upon good teamwork and communication.  Learning new skills such as helming, navigation, knotwork and sail trimming is great for confidence and intensely rewarding - a real feel good factor.

Traditional Boats Workout

Those with sailing experience find our traditional boats fascinating in their difference to modern yachts.  Our boats are much more physical since they have blocks and tackle that require a team effort rather than winches.  Living quarters are cosy, too, reminding us of the difference between life's necessities and luxuries.

The epic ocean passages and tall ships races are extremely popular with experienced yachtsmen.  The skill, strength and stamina required are amply rewarded with incredible sights and sensations.

This type of sailing is excellent for confidence building and immense pride comes from this type of achievement.  The tall ships tend to host a multi national crew so socialising is fun and new perspectives always interesting.

Sailing traditional boats is a life enhancing experience that shapes crew members.  It brings great happiness, pride and confidence and helps to build great relationships.  Concentration on learning new skills and reacting to the elements gives a real break from normal life that can free up thought processes and emotional responses.  Sailing really does tend the body, mind and soul.
