Refit Roundup

Refit Round-Up and Pre-Season Update!

With Spring upon us and the sailing season just around the corner, we take a look at the work that goes into keeping these beautiful vessels looking so splendid! Many of the first voyages of the season will start on the 30th March, with just a handful of places amongst them you can still get away this Spring, or Easter. Take a look at some of the highlighted voyages and progress of the fleet below:

Eda Frandsen - Counting down the Days!

Update from the crew on their winter refi in sunny Cornwall:

"Galley items are back in their allocated cubby holes, dry store lists are in the making, sole boards are back down, cushions and curtains are seeing the light of day again... all of which mean sailing isn't far off and, importantly, dinners on deck aren't either! It is hands down one of the best things about summer sailing- platters and bowls of food making its way along a chain of hands, up the saloon steps and onto a coach roof, wine glasses perched on capping rails, that golden evening light making the whole boat glow. Chattering away under the oil lamp as the gold turns to red, with a blanket over the knees while the the last of the pudding has been tidied up and coffee and whisky have been sufficiently administered. Yes please."

There is still a rare opportunity to join Eda Frandsen for her Spring voyage

You can join Tecla for the start of her adventure, sailing from Amsterdam to Ullapool for a North Sea adventure going north to the Orkneys and possible the Shetlands.

Brixham Trawlers get a Lift

Provident was lifted out in Polruan in mid February for some of her winter checks, Leader also visited Toms yard to have a haul out in February too. Meanwhile, Pilgrim had volunteers and Marine Engineering students from South Devon Marine Academy helping to anti-foul, sand and change the fuel filters in Brixham. Irene - Up and down

Irene has spent most of the winter up the river near Saltash, an army of volunteers have helped with the jobs from painting to rig work. After months in her winter berth, Irene was moved down the river in early March to pop the mast and bowsprit back in.

The First Opportunity of the season to sail on Irene is for a day sail on the 5th April out of Falmouth:

5th April at 10am, until 6pm- Optional B&B, lunch and afternoon tea included. From £120 per person.

Blue Clipper - Now BLUE!

Blue Clipper is looking splendid and is now taking a nod to her name and turned a shade darker. The winter refit has been unfortunately met with quite a few delays due to the weather and supplies arriving from England. The work hasn't stopped, the ship is leaving on Monday for the first delivery trip to Dublin before starting her adventurous season in the Arctic and the high latitudes. We cannot wait to get some photos of her sailing with her brand new colours once she is sailing again!

Her journey from Scotland to Iceland is fully booked! But you can still join her from Dublin to Ullapool and in Iceland!

6th April until 13th April Dublin to Ullapool - Guiness to Whisky - From £1750.

Grayhound - Beautiful even on Land!

Grayhound has had a busy winter with a 5 year survey, but she is now back in the water after being painted in the Cornish and Breton Colours! She does look grand!

Kicking off her season from Douarnenez in Brittany, she will be sailing across the channel with a hold full of cargo ready to unlod at South West fishing towns and ports. Join her on this very splendid adventure.

31st March 2pm in Douarnrnez until 7th April 12pm in Plymouth - £690 - Limited Places
