RYA - Plot like a Pirate – use your cunning to go adventuring!

Fight the urge to hibernate. Get outdoors in Cornwall. “The best way to cure the seasonal blues is to spend as much time outdoors as you can during the day and snuggle up somewhere cosy with good company, wholesome food, candles and a glass of wine in the evening.” RYA Instructor and dedicated outdoor fan Debbie Purser.

Autumn Success StoryAutumn Story
Find out why our 3 day Autumn breaks in Cornwall were such a success last year and why skippers prefer to keep sailing with our customers - deep into October and November, when most yachts are tucked up ashore for the season.

RYA Courses with Blocks & Tackles Keep You Warm
Blocks and tackles really do keep you warmer and Eves decks are wide enough to stride around on. Eve is traditionally rigged with blocks and tackles and often requires two or three people using their legs, arms and stomach muscles to pull ropes to set or trim sails so it’s a great winter workout. RYA Courses involve a lot of tacks and gybes and close quarters manoeuvring so there is very little sitting around. Look at the our summary page to see which RYA course would suit you. RYA Competent Crew – Wield a

 13ft bowsprit !
Autumn RYA Competent Crew Practical courses with Classic Sailing are ideal for beginner's who are fairly hardy and already enjoy outdoor pursuits all year round. Steering a boat under power and sail is an important part of the RYA Competent Crew Course and once you have done it with a 13ft bowsprit your confidence will soar. You also need to be a able to handle a dinghy under oar; ours is wooden and a pleasure to row,  “Toss Oars, me hearties ! Where away the pub?

RYA Day Skipper Practical – Navigate Like a Smuggler
The shorter days means more intense sailing during the day time. A night sailing experience is a requirement for the voyage and we add fun by saying you have to get to certain places by crafty routes to avoid being caught by the customs men.  The whole crew have an incentive to work together to reach that secret spot and you never know it might be for a pint of Cornish ale in front of a roaring log fire.  It’s a brilliant way to improve your Day Skipper pilotage and navigation skills.
