Like most things in the world, there is too much choice, even within the Classic Sailing website. Finding the right length of voyage, level of adventure and physical challenge versus comfort can be daunting if you have never sailed before. Hopefully the links above will help refine your ideas.

Our voyage search facility (top right on every page) will help you narrow down the choice and give you the nitty gritty descriptions, itineraries, vessel specifications, prices and availability for every voyage currently on offer. If you can't find what you want, give us a ring as we will know what new voyages are also in the pipeline.
The Classic Sailing office is run principally by company directors and working skippers Adam and Debbie Purser, and we are also in regular contact with the operating managers and skippers of all the vessels we promote. Basically the office is run by enthusiasts who have a passion for traditional sailing, tall ships, wildlife and exploring the world under sail, so you can ask us just about anything and we can usually answer from first hand experience, or we will try and find you an answer.
You do not have to start with a 3 day sailing break and work upto 53 day epic in the Southern Ocean, but a sensible progression of personal goals and building up of sailing skills can keep you amused for a few years.
There are short breaks and weekends on pilot cutters and tall ships around British shores and also in New Zealand on Soren Larsen which make a great introduction to sailing. They are also a great way for experienced sailors to 're-charge your batteries'. Pushing yourself a bit harder there are longer 6-10 day voyages with more offshore sailing, remote island hopping, or you might like to try a short ocean passage. Our 3-4 day tall ship tasters make great gifts for friends and family. Once you are hooked we have some awesome rites of passage like crossing the Atlantic or the equator on a square rigger, or taking part in a tall ships race.
Each vessel will familiarise and train you to be a valuable member of the crew, so you really do not need any sailing experience to try any voyage we promote. If you speak to us we can give you a realistic idea of the level of challenge involved i.e. how 'hands on' each voyage will be. Complete novices of all ages have signed up for 21 day expeditions to Antarctica on a tall ship and loved every moment, and a new customer this year has tried a 3 day voyage on Eve and come straight back the next month to race at a pilot cutter event.
