Special Interest Voyages
Below are a few ideas if you are into photography or enjoy painting and sketching on holiday. We will feature other themes and hobby voyages soon. Do let us know if you have any ideas for a special interest voyage and we may be able to create one - whether it is mock sea battles (Grayhound has a firing cannon) or learning to cook seafood.
Marine Photography tips from an expert on board
An amazing three day voyage in Cornwall where you can get to grips with sailing a gaff rigged pilot cutter whilst watching the race battles between some mighty classic yachts at Pendennis Cup Regatta. The Voyage will also feature a digital photography workshop on board with photography expert and lecturer Tony Hopewell giving you some practical tips on how to get the best from your camera -between the action. More on Tony below.
Gaff Sailing Masterclasses on Eve of St Mawes
Join Eve for a great way to learn all about sailing and working a traditionally rigged vessel. Sail handling, reefing and all other tasks - however with no winches or mechanical aids this is a great hands-on experience. Great sailing and a manageable platform to work and learn tips on Eve.
As a charter skipper of a gaff rigged boat for 15 years it just seems like the normal way to go sailing, but if you were looking for a gaff masterclass then you have come to the right place. Eve of St Mawes is an ideal boat to learn about gaff rigged sailing on.
Spitsbergen - Landscape & Wildlife Photography Voyages
Tall ship Antigua regularly runs sailing and photography voyages in Spitsbergen - in the Arctic Summer and autumn. If you were inspired by the BBC Frozen Planet and loved the Freeze Frame feature about the photographers, then this is your chance to have a go.

Photography in Antarctica
Antarctic expeditions on tall ship Europa to the Antarctic are a photographers dream. There are professional wildlife guides on board but offically no photography lecturers. However each voyage typically attracts some very good amateur photographers and filmakers, and ocasionally professionals so you can learn quite a lot from your fellow crew.
Sketching & Painting Voyages
In Spring 2012 we ran a 3 day watercolour workshop with marine artist Jan Robson on pilot cutter Eve of St Mawes. Artists and traditional boats seem to go really well, so if there is enough of a demand for more sailing voyages with an artist on board to encourage you, then we have several enthusiastic professional artists who also sail and would love to create a workshop for you in Cornwall. Scillies or Scotland.
In Summer 2014 we ran a beginners sketching and painting workshop on Eve of St Mawes with East Coast artist and RYA illustrator Claudia Myatt. Claudia is a passionate traditional boat sailor who lives on her Dutch barge and runs many sketching and painting classes and likes to proove that everyone can draw if they know how to approach a subject and not view a blank sheet of paper with trepidation.
