Las Palmas on Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria

The Island of Gran Canaria is situated in the centre of the Canary Islands Archipelago between Tenerife and Fuerteventura. It is the third largest of the Canary Islands, but despite it's small size, the island is often described as being like a continent in miniature. The dry south contrasts with the green pine forests of the mountainous interior and it is not unusual for there to be snow on the peaks while Holidaymakers are sunbathing on the beaches below.

Click here for a map of the island including the airport and port of Las Palmas.

Getting to las Palmas

By Plane
There are many regional airports for flights to Las Palmas. The International Airport is only a short bus ride north to the city and port of Las Palmas.

Public Bus

Very handy if you're heading north to Las Palmas. The main bus stop to Las Palmas is used in the main by residents of Gran Canaria who, in the main, live in Las Palmas so the stop north is just outside the arrivals hall on the right and the service is every 20 minutes during the day, once an hour after 10pm.

I think you can buy tickets in the airport. Canaries buses are green and very modern.
