Cadiz

The exact location of Stavros S Niarchos will be given in time for your voyage.

Cadiz is an ancient port with a long mercantile and naval history. Sir Francis Drake was famous for sailing into Cadiz Harbour and setting fire or destroying 31 ships and taking six ships in 1587, knwon as singing the king of Spains beard. This delayed the Spanish Armada for a year and gave the English a little more time to prepare themselves for the Spanish Attack, it also probalby made the King of Spain even more determined to conquor the annoying English.  Cadiz grew wealthy on the Spanish trade with the New World and many of their galleons carrying gold arrived in the port.
Today Cadiz is a busy port but retains much of its ancient history in its castles, churches and museums.

Flights to Cadiz are available from Rynair, Thomas Cook, and Iberia, from a vareity of airports in the UK.
