Portree - Skye
Portree lies on the Sheltered East Coast of Skye and is the major town on Skye. In Gaelic: Port Rìgh, means the King's port. The Skye Bridge has opened up the Island to visitors, don’t worry the numbers are small and the Island is huge, it has more coastline than Cornwall.
Portree’s harbour is fringed by cliffs and the small pier has an excellent fish and chip shop, all the fish is caught locally.
In the town there are galleries and cultural centres to visit, Aros Centre and the An Turin Arts Centre, both of which celebrate the island's Gaelic heritage.
