Tall Ships Taster

Not a night to be at sea…

It is possible to live comfortably, though dare we say boringly and read about storms on the high seas tucked up at home. Or you can join 66 other barking mad tall ship sailors and find out what it feels like to sail a square rigged sailing ship in a Force 8 in the middle of a British winter.

A becalmed tall ship is not much fun…They need a good blow to really show off. The Prince William is a new steel ship built to handle huge forces of nature. She uses that free power to give you a roller coaster ride you will never forget. Ask any tall ship addict what hooked them and it will probably be a moment when the spray was flying and everybody pulled together.

This winter Prince William will be blasting around Britain and Ireland in 4 day hops, so if you are feeling restless in your heated office, adventure is coming to a port near you. For most of us the huge swell of the Western Approaches, impressive chop of the Irish Sea and the rocky shores Southern Ireland are a worthy substitute for Cape Horn and we can still be back to work on Monday without looking too grizzly.

You can tough it out on deck, safe in the knowledge that a hot meal beckons, below is warm, dry with plenty of washrooms and hot showers. Ashore crews often take over a waterside pub ‘en masse’ to enjoy a roaring fire, sing a few shanties and fully appreciate how heroic deep sea fishermen are.
