Now in our 6th year, this event is organised by ourselves, with a lot of help from local businesses and the pilot cutter owners themselves. Many of the vessels are owned by private owners but Eve of St Mawes and Annabel J are both charter vessels so you can become race crew on either pilot cutter for this event.
If you book early enough you can bring a group and charter the whole boat or both. Places on Eve of St Mawes for the 2012 event are now open for booking.
The 2012 pilot cutter review will follow a similar format to last year but we are always looking for ways of making it more fun for the crews.
Join Annabel J at Warsash in the Hamble, and enjoy the relative relaxation of sailing to Fowey, stopping somewhere en route before the racing starts. Its a great way to get used to the vessel, her rigging, the rest of the crew and to start to feel comfortable with working together to get the best out of the boat and yourself!
From Fowey, you will race to St Mawes before using the village as a base for 2 days of racing. This is a great mix of racing and socialising, and a perfect opportunity to take a look at other Pilot Cutters, both old and new, as owners will welcome you aboard.
PDF Event Description, typical day to day itinerary & photos
Pilot Cutters attending in 2011 were Eve, Annabel J, Agnes, Mascotte, Cornubia, Hesper, Morwenna, Charmian, Edith Grey, and Amelie Rose, Alpha and Marian.
We hope 2012 will be a bumper year for the largest number of pilot cutters in Cornwall as we have designed the event to be a prelimary gathering before a NEW offshore race. The Bristol Channel Pilot Cutters Owners Association are organising a Fasnet Race purely for pilot cutters...and it starts from Falmouth after the Pilot Cutter Review.
Our office sales travel consultant Georgia sailed as crew on Eve at 2011 event, so read about her first experience of sailing Classic Sailing's tiny flagship.Georgia's story
