Classic Sailing International HQ - A Rural Affair
We accidentally downsized in 2008 during the height of the recession from a huge office, classroom and workshop to just one end of the building. Ironically since then we have been expanding rapidly. Our current office in Gerrans near Portscatho is tiny but we manage to squeeze five people into what used to be our workshop. Outside is a perfect bit of rural Cornwall, but when the SE gales blow you can hear the surf on the Roseland coastline and taste the salt in the air. We can nip just outside the door for a coffee and a bit of fresh air and watch the horses cavorting in the wind or give our office dogs a blast around the field.

Pop in for a Cup of Tea
If you find yourself on the single track road to St Anthony Lighthouse then you really should pop in for a cup of tea. We can do Italian coffee, builders tea, earl grey, herbal tea, rooibus tea, cows milk or soya milk on a good day. Look out for Parton Vrane (means 'Field of the Crows' in Cornish) on the left, about 0.75 miles beyond Gerrans Church. Look for a low timber clad building with 6ft high 'Classic Sailing' painted in white on black workshop doors.
The office normally comprises Adam and Debbie Purser, Becky Prizeman and Melissa Williams. Anna Gibson is our very able part time assistant and book keeper. Out of the window about two miles to the east we can watch sailing ships heading along the Cornish Coast past Nare Head and Gull Rock.
Becky Prizeman - Director & Sales Executive
We head hunted Becky from Neilson Active Holidays where she was their top sales consultant selling ski and sailing holidays. Before working in their head office in Brighton Becky has been a water-sports instructor and beach manager in nice warm places in the Mediterranean for several years. She has also sailed classic boats on the Broads as a family holiday and soon took over as skipper amongst the reed beds. Becky gained her RYA Day Skipper on Golden Vanity in 2016 and sailed her first overnight Channel Crossing on Grayhound in 2017, so she still knows what it is like do things for the first time.
Melissa Williams - Adventure Travel Consultant and Relief Skipper
Melissa has worked for Classic Sailing twice before as skipper of Eve of St Mawes. She originally came from a fine arts career background but that all changed when she raced around the world with Clipper Adventures. Mel knows exactly where you are coming from if you say you want to radically change your career!
Melissa knows the Classic Sailing fleet well having been a RYA cruising instructor on Moosk, sailed as the mate and occasional relief skipper on Eda Frandsen for two seasons in Scotland and in 2017 was the skipper and relief mate for pilot cutter Agnes. She is definately the most qualified person to talk to customers about Scotland. Not only has she explored there with charter guests on Eda and Agnes, she spent a season as a mate on Gordonstoun School's 80 ft yacht with students in the wilds of NW Scotland.
Debbie Purser - Co Founder
Debbie helped create and set up Classic Sailing with Adam in 1996. She was Operations Manager and skipper of Eve of St Mawes for 20 years, as well as using her creative talents and photography to design and write our websites, most the brochures and sales literature. Involved in all aspects of the business she is also a very well travelled as a tall ship sailor. If you want to know more about Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland, Cape Verde, Cuba and most of our fleet then she is happy to talk to you. Debbie is also our RYA Chief Instructor and has been to Nautical College to gain her STCW95 Deck Officer ticket so she can advise you on sailing career paths too.
Adam Purser - Co Founder
Adam is a life long entrepreneur and sailor and has always been the business genius behind Classic Sailing. He is always learning new things about marketing and trying to find approaches to selling experiences that no one else has thought of.
A RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, Adam was Classic Sailing's first RYA Principal, now succeeded by Debbie. Adam has been the driving force of the business and instrumental in growing the Classic Sailing fleet to about 25 vessels working all over the world.
Anna Gibson - Handling Your Money
Anna's father ran a boatyard in the Solent and she worked for Sadler Yachts for a while....Anna has had a varied career, looks after horses and dogs and is both immensely practical and creative. Anna has been a buyer for Laura Ashley, but managed to make the magic move to Cornwall. Since living down here, she has worked for successful companies like Cornwall Cottages, helping deal with customers bookings and using her eye for design and colour to create good looking websites. In addition to working on our accounts she has been helping Debbie write content for our new website. We hope to send her out on the water with her camera too.
The Other Office Sea Dogs
Becky's dog Rumo - a young black springador that loves the sea, but has a habit of jumping out of dinghies.
Adam and Debbie's dog Towan - A rescue dog that is coming on in leaps and bounds. A border collie with a hint of German Shepherd, Towan has yet to be introduced to boats
Bertie is Melissa's Border Terrier - a tiny puppy with attitude. Her last question at interview, was "Is it ok to get a puppy and bring him to work"
They love to play - especially when we have customers trying to make themselves heard on the phone.
